Claude Turcotte’s Guide Services has access to thousands of kilometers of prime bear country, located in exclusive, restricted and controlled Provincial Wildlife Reserves in the eastern Canadian province of Quebec. All of our areas are via easy access paved roads within a 2-3 hour drive from Montreal.

Bear Season begins in mid-May and runs through June, with the rut beginning in the first week of June. We offer three base camps, two guided and one self-guided.

Where We Bear Hunt in Quebec

Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve: Located less than 2 hours from the Montreal International Airport. 36 hunters accepted.

St.-Maurice Wildlife Reserve: Located 3 hours northeast of the Montreal International Airport. 24 hunters accepted.

Straw Hat ZEC accessible by the same entrance as St. Maurice Camp. 15 hunters accepted only on a self-guided hunt.

Both reserves are bordered by the Maurice National Park, made of up hundreds of miles of untouched wilderness area where no hunting is allowed.

Our DNR estimates that bear densities within these areas are as high as 6 bears per 10 square miles, but after hunting these areas for years, we estimate they’re even higher.
